Actually, Mooloolaba was the best thing about that trip to Aussie. Not as brash or overly commercialised as the Gold Coast nor as "boondocks" as some of the places we've visited in New Zealand where Nescafe is as coffee culture as they get and a fish and chip shop is your monopoly provider of fine dining. The esplanade has been recently reconstructed with superb facilities for walkers, bathers and brunchers, with a series of sailed canopies to keep off the sun and the rain while you try to choose from the dozen plus restaurants.
