The Fourth of July
Why do Americans Celebrate the Fourth? Some say its when the Declaration of Independence was made, except that was made on the second. Maybe it was when the declaration was signed? Nope, that wasn't until August.
Anyway, I had a great time on the fourth, celebrating the defeat of the Hannovarian Mercenaries by the descendants of British Colonists. Hooray. This was my second big Independence Day bash. I'd been to the party organised by the US Navy in Scotland to celebrate the US Bicentenial. This one was more fun, even though I didn't get to run in the egg & spoon race or ride on the toy train.....
