Concert officially opened for business on the 1st of January 2000 and in order to get the new global team together, a team meeting was organised for early February in San Francisco, where Global Accounts - Technology - Pacific Accounts is Headquartered.
So, off we went. I travelled out to SF with my colleague, Philippa who worked on the same account. On arrival at SFO, we bumped into Huw James, a former colleague in BT who was now risking life and limb in incurring expenses after BT had introduced a General Manager sign off procedure if you needed a box of paperclips. Hence this video. Being a generous sort of a Welshman, Huw gave us a lift to the Hotel in San Francisco. Rather than chose one of the Hiltons, Sheratons or $10 Travel Inns, colleague John Duggan sent us off to "The Mansions" which was a San Francisco institution. Now sadly closed, I've never seen anything like it. All the rooms are unique, and Philippa got to stay in the room favoured by John Kennedy Jr when he was in town. I got the haunted room in the attic, read into that what you will.
We did actually spend two days of hard slog doing account planning sessions, but the photo's were rather dull. Duller, then. Bob took us all out for dinner to Sausilito, which involved a ferry ride across the bay.
It wasn't all internal stuff, we did take the opportunity to make a few client visits...
including these chaps. |
